Mike Malaska uses the Rapsodo Mobile Launch Monitor to work on drills and increase his club speed.
Mike makes a normal swing with his driver to see what the mobile launch monitor records.
His carry distance is 230 yards, and the clubhead speed is 95 mph. Mike's goal is to increase those numbers.
The Swing the Handle Drill is a great way to accomplish this. Turn your driver around and grip the club close to the clubhead. Swing and make the club accelerate. Because you are holding the club at the other end, it feels lighter when you swing. It's like training sprinters to run downhill. They must run faster than normal. So when they transfer to flatter ground, they maximize their speed.
Mike sets back up and makes another swing. He increases his clubhead speed to 99 mph.
This exercise is a great drill to start to increase speed.
