It's important to make sure the club is more in your fingers. Rest the club on your shoulder and concentrate on feeling this in your fingers before you swing.
Practice swinging with a baseball bat. The way the bat stands up, levels out, and the timing of how you change directions is very similar to a golf swing.
Draw a dot on the center of your clubface. Concentrate on putting that dot on the back of the ball, and you'll make great shots.
