A basic skill is for your arms to work in a circle. They swing back and up. Then they come down on a shallower path. This happens in all sports. Ping pong the paddle works up to under or makes a loop. Tennis the same loop. A baseball bat goes back on one arch and comes down on a shallower path. Hockey also the stick goes up fairly steep then shallows into the ice. The golf club makes the same loop. You already know how to do it.
