JOSH STONEKING-PLAYER LESSON

Mike works with Dr. Joshua Stoneking, a natural professional bodybuilder who has been competing in the Men’s Physique division since 2013. He has entered 29 bodybuilding competitions in his esteemed career and was crowned champion 11 times. He has been a lifetime natural athlete, which means he does not use performance-enhancing drugs to compete on the professional bodybuilding stages. Josh currently holds four professional cards across different bodybuilding organizations.

  • BREAKING DOWN THE SWING

    Mike analyzes Josh’s swing and discusses grip, posture, alignment, dynamic swing plane, and clubface.

  • GRIP: YOU HOLD THE CLUB IN YOUR FINGERS

    Mike starts with the importance of grip, how the hands move, and making sure the wrists are the strongest at impact.

  • YOUR HANDS ARE THE CLUBFACE

    Mike emphasizes that the hands are the clubface and the club shaft is just an extension of your arm. Mike examines how the clubface works in both hands.

  • THE BASEBALL SWING

    Mike connects the relationship with baseball to golf and how the grip is almost identical at impact. Hitting a golf ball and a baseball is essentially the same.

  • PATH CONTROL: CURVE IT TO THE LEFT

    Mike illustrates the momentum of the club and the up to under in the golf swing. Mike then finishes by getting Josh to curve the ball left.
